You cannot visit the Kent State campus today and not be reminded of the generous legacy of the Zeta Gamma chapter of Sigma Nu. A main campus drive is named in honor of Brother George Janik for his service as member/president of the University Board of Trustees. Schoonover Baseball Stadium is named to honor the financial gifts of Brother Hal, his wife Julia and their family. Moreover, Brother Em Ferrara and his wife Margaret and family have made major monetary gifts to support a new golf teaching and learning facility at the K.S.U. course. Even Satterfield, Bowman and White Halls are named after decorated Sigma Nu alumni. Many academic chairs are funded by million dollar gifts from Brothers Joe Gorman and Dave and Jill Farris. Academic scholarships created by Brother Jim Rinier and spouse Dorothy stand as hallmarks of a universal love for our alma mater and the public it serves.
It is conservatively estimated that Zeta Gamma brothers, in sum, have gifted more than $10 million to Kent State over the last several years to perpetuate academic and athletic excellence. Brothers Reppa, Starner, Schoonover, Ford, Ferrara, Janik, Williams, and Flower all have endowments for scholarships for intercollegiate sports. Many thousands of dollars have been contributed to other noteworthy initiatives campus-wide by Zeta Gamma men. It is safe to say that the Zeta Gamma footprint at Kent State is unparalleled.
The goal of this website is to reunite every Sigma Nu man, both past and present, of the Zeta Gamma chapter in the hopes that we can share fond memories and create lasting new ones. If you are a first time visitor to the site, please register under our Alumni Registration page and enjoy looking around.
